About Me

Jessika Green (she/her) is a comics artist, feminist killjoy and witch.

Originally born in London she is now based in Birmingham, UK.

Jessika’s work is autobiographical and is inspired by humorous, slice-of-life scenarios, as well as her desire to explore sensitive and challenging themes such as anxiety and voluntary childlessness.

Jessika was one of Broken Frontier’s six spotlighted artists from Small Press Day 2021 and her comic Four Hands was awarded runner-up prize in the Observer/Cape/Comica Graphic Short Story Prize in 2019. She was shortlisted for the same prize in 2017 for her comic Varicose Veins

In 2022 Jessika was selected to exhibit her comic-poem NON MUM in Lullabies in Lockdown at Sunny Bank Mills Gallery, Yorkshire. She was an exhibitor at the inaugural Winchester Comics Fair in November 2022 and Plymouth Comics and Zine Fair in March 2023.

Visually, Jessika’s work ranges from simply rendered cartoons to more abstract, atmospheric imagery that captures experiences and emotions. Jessika works in layers of traditional mediums such as ink, charcoal and collage as well as digital painting and design.

She is currently working on a long-form comic that examines her Jewish heritage through the lens of rising antisemitism, ancestral healing and baking ‘bubbalas’.
